Announcing the Watch Photo Awards.

If you’re a fan of watches or you work in the industry (why else would you be reading this?), then the chances are that you know a little bit about watches and you appreciate a good photograph. Like many watch fans, you may be adept at the wrist shot, or the delicate art of matching watches with their ideal companions such as sports cars, fine tailoring, cigars and other preserves of the luxury lifestyle.

What you have probably been wondering is why nobody has ever organised a competition that is open for anyone to share their combined passion for watches and photography. Wonder no more, because we now have the answer in the form of the World Photo Awards. Starting in May and lasting for six months, this competition will select the best in watch photography on a particular theme each month. At the end of the month, a jury consists of specialists in the world of watches and photography will choose its ten favourite shots for the month, which will then be open to a public vote on social media to determine the monthly winner. We have also teamed up with a number of great partners to offer some fantastic prizes to the monthly winners. The winner of the May competition will receive a voucher for a weekend for two at Geneva’s five-star Grand Kempinski Hotel.

After six months of competition, a second vote will be held on social networks to determine an overall winner, who will have the honour of being a member of the jury for next year’s competitions. The 60 finalists will also have their work shown as part of a travelling photography exhibition. All valid contributions will also help to constitute what could become the world’s leading independent archive of watch photography.

Now is the time to put your creativity and originality to the test. Can you find the angle that nobody else thought of? Can you offer the most original and visually appealing interpretation of the monthly theme? It’s your chance to impress the judges, who will be looking for aesthetic appeal of the photos submitted just as much as the respect of the theme chosen.

Be the first to find out full details of the competition, including how to enter and what the first theme will be, by pre-registering here. Get those creative juices flowing and good luck!
