The fall edition of the 12th Art magazine is just out.

While the front cover of this GMT N°38 features the understated elegance of the feather-light Meisterstück Heritage Perpetual Calendar, the hundred or so inside pages deliver a wealth of colorful and cosmopolitan content, enriched with the official catalog of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève as an exclusive bonus for readers of the Great Magazine of Timepieces.

What’s the connection between the Chanel J12 Intense Black and the “Tiroler Festspieler Erl”? Zurich-based architect Alex Leuzinger points out their surprising similarities. So Patek Philippe is celebrating its 175th anniversary this year? Christie’s tells the story of the brand in 100 lots for its November auction. The Kering group has just bought up Ulysse Nardin and is reorganizing its management structure? In an exclusive interview, its CEO Albert Bensoussan comments on these changes, as well as those being experienced by the industry as a whole. Louis Vuitton has recently inaugurated its new production facility in Geneva? Its Vice-President for Watches and Jewellery, Hamdi Chatti, gives a detailed account of the ins and outs of this development.

The German philosopher Hegel gave a list of the six classical arts in the 19th century, and GMT draws a parallel between each of them and six ambassadors of the 12th art (the art of time measurement): Bvlgari, Chopard, Graff, Harry Winston, Hublot and MB&F. Hegel would doubtless have been inspired by the faultless classicism of H. Moser & Cie and A. Lange & Söhne, which the GMT editorial team have chosen to highlight for their respective singularities: the entrepreneurial spirit reflected in the former’s in-house balance-spring production; and the positive thinking in all ages shown by the latter.

Meanwhile, the Innovation column is drawn to magnetism and the article “Countering a fatal attraction” sums up the most recent technological breakthroughs in this field. On an even more technical note, the magazine’s watchmaker performed a week of tests on the Piaget Altiplano P900. His conclusions are unequivocal. This issue also provides a non-exhaustive glimpse of the lifestyle universe cultivated by the watch brands, as well as introducing 32 newly released models for men and women.

Prior to the publication of GMT Lady, available as of late November and the SIHH edition of GMT, due out in late December, the entire magazine is now available from Swiss and digital newsstands, here and there. For the past month, the WorldTempus community has already been enjoying the opportunity of viewing certain excerpts.
