With three new brands launching at SalonQP, the market still seems to have capacity to absorb the right kind of product.

More by coincidence than design, the Anglo-Saxon theme continues this week on WorldTempus with articles on the friendship that developed between Peter Speake-Marin and new brand ambassador Pierce Brosnan and an update on the “birth of a watch” project from Stephen Forsey. For the first time, this worthwhile project will have its own separate presence at the SIHH next year as it enters the final stage of its first phase with the decoration of the “school watch”.

“Jean-Claude Biver is a genius of the industry who rightly merits a biography”

We also review the happenings at SalonQP in London, which concluded on Saturday and saw the launch of three news brands, the exhibition of the GPHG winners and two specially curated exhibitions – one on jewellery watches and one on the chronograph.

Later this week we will take a closer look at some specific collections, as Michèle Brunner examines the Chrono 4 collection by Eberhard & Co and David Chokron looks at the history of diving watches at Seiko. I conclude the week with some of the special editions that were presented especially for the SIAR last month.
