A Luxurious Setting for Talented Photographers - Watch Photo Awards
1 minute read
The 4th edition of the Watch Photo Awards has begun. Make your watch the star of the show!

The Watch Photo Awards, launched by our publishing house GMT Publishing in 2018, is the first international watch photography competition open to the public. Each year, it gives watch owners the opportunity to share their passion and showcase their photography talents, guided by specific themes. Last year, for example, the two themes were #stayathome and “metal”.

The 2021 competition will run throughout July and August. The photography theme for July will be “freedom”, and August’s topic will be “our animal friends”. The idea is to photograph your mechanical watch in a setting that reflects the theme for the month. Then simply upload it in high definition to watch-photo-awards.com. That’s all there is to it! Obviously, if you want to impress the jury, you’ll have to be very creative, and pay careful attention to your photography technique. The five panel members will evaluate each photo submitted according to their relevance to the theme, aesthetic appeal and photography technique (no blurry images!).

And the winner is….

Each month, the ten best photos are selected. They will be published by our media partners, and they will also form part of an exhibit, which will later go on show at a museum and/or a watch fair. In previous years, for instance, photographers have seen their works on display at the Geneva Museum of Art and History, the International Watchmaking Museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Baselworld, Dubai Watch Week and Miami Watches and Wonders. That’s pretty good exposure! Depending on where they live, the winning photographers may also be invited to the opening of the exhibition. The general public will have the final say on which is the best of the ten shots selected each month. Each month’s winner will take away a luxury hotel break for two.

Un château pour votre talent

This year, the Watch Photo Awards partner hotel is the Château de Bonmont, situated in the foothills of the Jura, a stone’s throw from Geneva, with sumptuous grounds offering a magnificent view of Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc.

Un château pour votre talent

For the 2021 edition of the Watch Photo Awards, twenty talented photographers will have their images exhibited, and two of them will win a dream two-night getaway for two at the Château de Bonmont. What are you waiting for?
