Fancy staying at the Bvlgari Resort Dubai? - Watch Photo Awards
1 minute read
Take part in the WPA by sending in your watch photo, and you’ll be eligible to win a stay at the Bulgari Resort in Dubai.

The Watch Photo Awards, launched by GMT Publishing in 2018, are the first international watch photography competition open to the public. More than 1000 watch owners competed last year, and 60 of them had their photos selected, published and exhibited at Geneva’s Museum of Art and History (MAH), Miami Watches & Wonders and Baselworld. Six of the photographers selected by the jury won first prize for the monthly theme – a dream holiday in a five-star hotel. The 2019 event will also culminate in a major travelling exhibition, which will start out at the MAH in Geneva, from 1 to 14 November.

The organisers of Dubai Watch Week invited the Watch Photo Awards to create a specific theme for the exhibition scheduled for 20 to 24 November 2019, so the stage has been set this month with the theme “Innovation and Technology”. Entrants are invited to send in a photo of a mechanical watch that embodies the theme of innovation and technology, or a photo of a mechanical watch against a background representing that theme. As you may have guessed, Innovation and Technology is the theme of this year’s Dubai Watch Week, which showcases 30 watch brands and independent creators in an ambitious format designed by Seddiqi & Sons, the foremost watch retailer in the United Arab Emirates. Visitors to Dubai Watch Week will have the opportunity to vote in person for the best photo entered for the Watch Photo Awards. The winner will be awarded a break for two at the brand new Bulgari Hotel, the 5-star pearl of Dubai.

A nice watch, a bit of imagination, a keen eye for composition and a sprinkling of talent, and you could be in with a chance! To take part, budding artists must upload their photo (in high resolution – no compressed formats) to watchphotoawards.com by 31 October, after which it will be assessed by our panel of experts. The jury will select 20 photos to be exhibited in Dubai, according to how well they meet the criteria of aesthetic appeal, technical proficiency and relevance to the theme. They will also be published on WorldTempus. The photographers of the selected entries will receive an invitation to visit Dubai Watch Week, and they will also be invited to join the Fine Watch Club. Still hesitating? All participants will be entered into a prize draw for a second luxury break. What have you got to lose?
