1 minute read
After travelling throughout the biggest cities in China, the exhibition «1810-1812, Breguet makes the first wristwatch fit for a queen» moved to Xi’an.
From November 4 to 22, 2013 this retrospective pays tribute to Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples, and relates the story of the creation of the first wristwatch.

In response to a commission from the Queen of Naples dated 8 June 1810, A.-L. Breguet starts creating a unique piece, the first wristwatch. Completed on December 21, 1812, the Breguet No. 2639 repeating watch features a gold guilloché oblong-shaped case and a wristlet of twisted hair and gold thread. Untraceable today, it is the first wristwatch in the history of watchmaking.
