Festivities kicked off with the annual Grand Prix awards celebrating the finest achievements in the field of automobile design. To mark the event, Patrick Pruniaux, CEO Girard-Perregaux was present on January 29th and handed the Special Jury Prize to Adrian Van Hooydonk, BMW Group Vice-President of Design at the Official Grand Prix Award ceremony, an evening bringing together more than 600 personalities from the automobile and art world.
Girard-Perregaux has maintained consistently close ties with the world of motor racing by partnering major events in this field. Used by drivers to measure split times or to time two events with the same start time but different arrival times, chronographs have always played an essential role in moto sport.
Regarded as the "Car Design Fashion Week", the International Automobile Festival is an exhibition of Concept Cars representing masterpieces of creativity. From January 31st to February 3rd 2019, the public is able to discover the most beautiful concept cars of the year in the heart of a transparent 3000 sqm structure installed on Place Vauban, at the foot of the Dôme des Invalides. Builders and designers come to exhibit their creations, staged by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. Visitors to the show will also be able to discover the world of Girard-Perregaux, which is presenting timepieces and museum pieces that have marked the history of the Manufacture, whose origins date back to 1791.
