Since 2012, Girard-Perregaux has been the official timing partner and founding member of the future Academy Museum of Motion Picutres, which will open in 2017 in Los Angeles.
To celebrate this partnership, Girard-Perregaux organised a special event entitled Mechanics of Dreams, which took place at the Sinan Mansion in Shanghai on 20 June 2014. The exhibition showed a collection of images and videos from the Academy's collection, illustrating the behind-the-scenes life of emblematic Hollywood figures at work or at home. Girard-Perregaux also chose a selection of watches to display for the occasion.
Mechanics of Dreams also serves to highlight the similarities between the creative process of cinema and that of watchmaking.
