As we pack our bags for Basel, here is what you can expect on WorldTempus this week.

Smart watches are bound to be one of the major talking points at Baselworld and the subject gains even more significance after Apple’s recent announcement of more detailed specifications and retail prices for its models. We look at the subject from two different angles this week, comparing the gold versions of the Apple Watch with some Swiss competition and offering a thought-provoking look at what we could or should expect from the Swiss watch industry in the near future in response to the smart watch craze.

We will be publishing a number of major new product launches throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday, with many more to follow later in the week as they are announced. From next week our contributors will start to offer their reviews of the latest releases, the main trends seen at the show and interviews with the biggest names in watchmaking.
