The cream of the high-end watch industry once again heads to Mexico City this week for the Salon Internacional de Alta Relojeria (SIAR). Here is what to expect as WorldTempus reports live from the event.

The SIAR has an excellent reputation among both brands and collectors. For the second time this year it will be held at the St. Regis hotel in the heart of sprawling Mexico City and play host to some thirty high-end brands.
Such is the regional importance of the exhibition that in certain cases it is the CEO of the brand himself who makes the trip to Mexico. Like last year, this will be the case for Jérôme de Witt, who will represent his brand personally. Guido Terreni will attend for Bulgari and Stephen Forsey will represent Greubel Forsey. You can look forward to interviews with all three on WorldTempus over the next week or so.

One person who had hoped to attend the exhibition was Jean-Marie Schaller, CEO of Louis Moinet. He has had to cancel in favour of the one event that trumps the SIAR this week: the International Chronometry Competition, in which the Louis Moinet Verlator Tourbillon is one of only two finalists in the tourbillon category. The results for this competition will be announced on 22nd October.

With other exhibitors such as Montblanc, Piaget, Richard Mille, Roger Dubuis and Vacheron Constantin there might be a chance to see some of the new timepieces presented within the past couple of weeks at Watches and Wonders in Hong Kong. But the smaller independent brands will also have plenty of new stuff on show, such as De Bethune with its recently announced DB27 D Polo Edition  and HYT, which has two new models to announce over the next month in addition to the H4 Alinghi presented last week.
