Newsletter An editorial from 30,000 feet

This week WorldTempus is on the road to bring you coverage of the TimeCrafters exhibition in New York, in addition to our usual editorial coverage.

The fact that I am writing these lines on the plane to New York is an illustration of our efforts to cover the world’s most important regional watch exhibitions in addition to the mammoth watch feasts held in Switzerland in the first quarter of the year. In doing so, we also aim to get closer to you, our readers, to hear your thoughts and further optimise our coverage of the watch industry and its brands.

As part of my trip I will, of course, be bringing you news from the TimeCrafters exhibition in New York and the brands exhibiting there. But I will also be taking the opportunity to visit the New York flagship store of Jacob & Co. and talk to Jacob Arabo himself about the inspiration behind the fantastic Astronomia Tourbillon that the brand presented in BaselWorld this year.

Ahead of this, and before the focus of our coverage turns to the Mediterranean with the Cannes film festival and the Monaco Grand Prix later this week, you can read about subjects as diverse as the birth of watchmaking in the canton of Neuchâtel by Willy Schweizer, Olivier Müller’s account of the stringent quality controls that Montblanc imposes on its timepieces and the new-found delight of collector Kristian Haagen at his latest acquisition from A. Lange & Söhne.
