Porsche Motorsport and its Official Timing Partner Chopard are well positioned to win the World Endurance Championship 2016.

After their recent victories at Le Mans 2016, at Nürburgring, in Mexico and in the USA, the Porsche Motorsport LMP1 teams crossed the finish line in third and fifth place despite a significant lead of Toyota, the local manufacturer, during the first part of the race. The hybrid race car driven by Mark Webber and his team mates, reached the finish line in third position. Led by Romain Dumas, the sister-car arrived in fifth position.

With these results in Fuji, Porsche further extended its lead in the manufacturers’ standings. The second Porsche Motorsport team composed of the trio, Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb, continues to lead in the drivers’ world championship by 23 points despite their closest rivals in the drivers’ championship took more points than them, their advantage has shrunk to 23 points.

In the manufacturers’ standings, Porsche has increased its lead over Audi, with 263 points for Porsche versus 204 points for Audi. Toyota follows with 174 points. This race marks the beginning of the ultimate battles as there are two more six-hour races to come before the end of the championship.

Perfectly in line with the performance targets of Porsche Motorsport, Chopard presented for the first time in Japan its new Superfast timepiece, the Superfast Chrono Porsche 919 Black Edition chronograph, produced in a 100-piece limited serie.
