16 September 2016 Mantua, the Italian Capital of Culture for 2016, is about to host the most important of all the events in the Eberhard & Co. calendar, the Nuvolari Grand Prix. The Swiss watchmaker will once again be partnering the event. Since 1991, it has been official partner and timekeeper of the race.
The race, organised by Mantova Corse, ACI Mantova and the Tazio Nuvolari Museum, will cover 1,050 km in 3 days, from the Tyrrhenian Sea to the Adriatic via the towns of Tuscany, Marche and Romagna, including Mantua, Carrara, Forte dei Marmi, Pisa, Siena, Arezzo, Citta di Castello, Urbino, Rimini and Ferrara. The stars of the show will be over 300 fabulous cars of historical interest – all produced between 1919 and 1969 – and drivers hailing from all over the world.
Eberhard & Co. will as usual be marking the time at the start and finish lines with its iconic “Tazio Nuvolari” collection, designed and manufactured according to a design philosophy which borrows from the instruments of vintage racing cars. The most representative new items of 2016 will be showcased, particularly the high-performance “Scafograf 300”.
Overall rally champion in 1988 and 1989 Biasion, who boasts an array of world and European titles, will be exceptionally competing in the regularity race, forming a special crew together with the MD Mario Peserico in a beautiful Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint.
The Classicteam-Eberhard, the team captained by Corrado Corneliani that has represented the brand in motor-racing events since 2010, will be present as always with an outstanding formation: no less than 13 crews with 10 pre-war cars will be deployed, a showcase of unique, exclusive jewels, the oldest of which is the 1927 Chrysler 72 Sport, while the rarest and most prestigious is the 1933 Aston Martin Le Mans. Also the Swiss crews of the Vintage Racing Team Eberhard, composed by Müller-Manetsch and Zettl-Suffa will take part in the Gran Premio.
Two Tazio Nuvolari timepieces will be there at the finishing line to welcome and crown the winners.
Another major new event that the brand will be involved in is a special initiative created by the Club 8 Volanti di Mantova. On Saturday 17 September, the Club will be organising an Elegance Competition intended to involve the spectators and to pay tribute to the cultural and historical content represented by the vintage vehicles. Eberhard & Co. will award the “Tazio Nuvolari – Desk Clock” as a special prize to the winner of the title of “The fairest of them all”.
