While the course itself has remained virtually unchanged since the very first edition of the race in 1974, the experience itself has evolved: More dynamic, more organized, and more international in its scope. Already in its 46th edition, and the second consecutive year that Emile Chouriet participates as a partner, the Sierre-Zinal is widely recognized as one of the most outstanding mountain races. Surrounded by exceptional landscapes and a convivial atmosphere, the race attracts runners and visitors from all over the world.
As of last year, Sierre-Zinal has joined the ranks of the Golden Trail World Series, making it now part of the five most prestigious mountain races in the world. Crossing several mountain peaks and valleys in the heart of the Valais, Sierre-Zinal represents a challenging course: 31km in total distance, with an ascent of 2‘200m and a descent of 1’100m.
