Sierre-Zinal, the unique Golden Trails World Circuit race in the heart of the Swiss Valais alpine region, brought over 5’000 participants from 51 countries. In the men’s category, the Spanish seven-time winner Kilian Jornet broke the record of the race, completing the course in a record time of 2 hours 25 minutes and 35.5 seconds. Jornet was awarded a watch from the Challenger Deep collection, a perfect pairing with the Challenger Cliff he was awarded after last year’s Sierre-Zinal race. Swiss runner Maude Mathys finished in first place in the women’s category, taking 2 hours 49 minutes and 20.8 seconds to complete the high-altitude race. Mathys was awarded a watch from the Ladies collection.
The organizers of Sierre-Zinal held a contest at the end of the race, where all the runners removed their bibs and placed them in an urn. Several prizes were available to win by random draw, including a Challenger Cliff watch. Emile Chouriet also offered the opportunity to win a watch at its booth, where one name will be randomly drawn in September and will receive a Challenger Cliff watch from the brand’s sporty collection.
With blue skies, green pastures and the perfect summer weather, the conditions for Sierre-Zinal 2019 could not have been more perfect. The impeccable organization provided participants with a unique experience in a typically Swiss environment.
