IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the start of the Passione Caracciola vintage car rally in Milan, where it showcased the new Ingenieur collection.

The Passione Caracciola rally honours the memory of Rudolf “Karratsch” Caracciola, who became a three-time Grand Prix European champion in the 1930s. This is the third time IWC Schaffhausen has been a partner of the Passione Caracciola rally.  This year’s event starts in Milan and ends in Lugano, with a route that passes through Monza, St Moritz, Davos and Arosa.
"Not only does the Passione Caracciola rally honour one of the greatest racing drivers of all time, but it also offers the perfect stage for us to showcase our new Ingenieur collection, which combines classic elegance and sporty style", explained Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen.  "With a design that harks back to the first generations of this watch family from the 1950s and 1960s, this historically inspired watch also appeals specifically to vintage car lovers", he added.

After this presentation, the next item on the agenda was a trip to the Formula One track in Monza. The participants had the chance to get a taste of the rally atmosphere in vintage DTM vehicles such as the Mercedes 190 E Evo, driven by racing drivers Maro Engel and Bernd Schneider. They also took to the wheel of classic cars like the Mercedes 190 SLR from the 1950s, where they practised the regularity driving technique used at events like the Passione Caracciola rally. The new Ingenieur Chronograph Sport (Ref. IW380901) was on the drivers’ wrists to ensure precise timekeeping.
