Aleksandra Soldatova was awarded The Longines Prize for Elegance at the 36th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Bulgaria.

Longines is the Official Partner and Official Timekeeper of the 36th Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2018 in Sofia, Bulgaria. The brand presented its Longines Prize for Elegance to Russia’s Aleksandra Soldatova, who distinguished herself for the grace and charisma she displayed throughout the all-around final. Longines President Walter von Känel presented Aleksandra Soldatova with a Longines timepiece. During this international event the brand highlighted its ladies model from The Longines Master Collection Blue Edition, which was seen on the wrist of its Ambassadors of Elegance, the Russian gymnasts Arina and Dina Averina. 

The Longines Prize for Elegance

The jury of the Longines Prize for Elegance comprised Walter von Känel, President of Longines, Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation, Maria Petrova, Ambassador of the Event – three-time World All-around champion and three-time European All-around champion – and Dmitri Dmitriev, Regional Sales Manager for Longines. 

The Longines Prize for Elegance

Set up in 1997, the Longines Prize for Elegance takes the form of a trophy representing a gymnast in movement created for Longines by the Swiss artist Jean-Pierre Gerber. In addition, the winner received a Longines timepiece and a cheque. Twin sisters Dina and Arina Averina, Ambassadors of Elegance performed during the event. Arina won a gold medal in the Hoop, Ball and Club finals, while Dina finished third in the Hoop and Club finals. The Russian athletes were seen wearing the ladies model of The Longines Master Collection Blue Edition, which displays a sunray blue dial with diamond indexes matching its blue alligator strap. 

Longines and gymnastics

For over thirty years, the brand has been the Official Partner and Timekeeper for artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitions organized by the International Gymnastics Federation. At these events, Longines provides the necessary infrastructure and personnel for calculating times, presenting scores, processing data (start lists, results, and medals) and displaying it on the results screens, on the commentators’ information system as well as transmitting it to the television companies that are covering the competitions.
