Stan Wawrinka and his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver - Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters
An Audemars Piguet ambassador since 2014, Stan Wawrinka is competing in the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters this week with the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver on his wrist.

Known for his majestic one-handed backhand, Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka is currently fourth in the ATP world ranking. “Stan the Man” has 13 trophies to his name, including two Grand Slams, the Australian Open in 2014 and Roland Garros in 2015. The 31 year-old from the canton of Vaud also picked up the Davis Cup trophy in 2014 with the Swiss team.

Many people do not know that Stan Wawrinka is a huge watch fan. So it was natural for him to team up with Audemars Piguet in 2014, whose timepieces he had already been wearing since 2012. His favourite model? The Royal Oak Offshore Diver in white ceramic, a sporty watch that Stan wears on court.

Made out of white super ceramic, the bezel, case middle, crown and pushers are 40% more scratch-resistant than the components of the Royal Oak Offshore Diver in black ceramic. White ceramic is also nine times harder than steel and is especially complicated to produce.

The 42mm case of the Royal Oak Offshore Diver is water resistant to 300 metres and is equipped with the in-house self-winding calibre 3120. The characteristic case back screws, the intermediate screws and the hexagonal surface screws secure the case as tightly as a submarine’s hatch. In addition to the hours, minutes and seconds, this model also displays the date and dive time on the inner flange. Note the light silvered dial with “mega tapestry” decoration, the applied hour markers and white-gold Royal Oak hands filled with luminescent material. The Diver is also available in steel and in a more sophisticated version in black-on-black ceramic.
