Julius Baer Zurich E-Prix

Racing returns to Switzerland, with TAG Heuer as the competition's official timekeeper.

On Sunday, June 10, 2018, the city of Zurich has become the stage for an Olympian motorsport race. Inside their single-seater electric vehicles, 20 drivers travelled the urban circuit along the Limmat as part of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Those who took part included Swiss driver Sébastien Buemi, as well as Nelson Piquet, Edoardo Mortara and Nick Heidfeld, and the race was won by Lucas Di Digrassi from Audi Sport Abt Schäffler, followed by Sam Bird (+7.542 seconds) and Jérôme D’Ambrosio (+16.822 seconds).

Julius Baer Zurich E-Prix

With this race, Zurich makes its début in the world of Formula E, alongside many major cities hosting the competition, such as Rome, Santiago, Hong Kong, New York and Mexico City.

Last March, TAG Heuer announced the extension of its contract as a partner and Official Timekeeper of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship. Under the leadership of Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer, and National Councillor Fathi Derder, this championship heralds the return of car racing to Switzerland, which has not hosted a professional circuit race since 1954. In March 2015, TAG Heuer organised an extraordinary drive of a Formula E car through the streets of Geneva. The goal: to bring an E-Prix to Switzerland. Now it has been a success!

The 2017/18 ABB FIA Formula E Championship began on December 2, 2017 in Hong Kong and will finish on July 14 & 15, 2018 in New York; Zurich hosts the penultimate stage before the competition is transferred to the American continent. TAG Heuer will be present at all of the races.
