WorldTempus presents as an avant-première a new 26-minute film by Laurent Ballesta that previews his next major expedition - Gombessa IV.

For the Gombessa II expedition, Laurent Ballesta and his team travelled to the southern pass of Fakarava atoll in French Polynesia in order to study the feeding behavior of the Grey reef sharks. Fakarava is the world's largest known concentration of these animals with approx. 700 individuals.

For the Gombessa IV Genesis intermediate project, in June-July 2016, Ballesta and his team returned to Fakarava to develop novel scientific protocols and observation techniques. This expedition was funded from a €250,000 donation linked to the limited-edition Blancpain Ocean Commitment I watch. Laurent went back in 2015 and again in 2016 with the support of Blancpain (using funds from the sale of the Blancpain Ocean Commitment. Half of the donation funded this expedition, while the other half, added to funding from the regular Blancpain Ocean Commitment programme, is being used to fund the biggest Gombessa expedition to date. Gombessa IV will be released in early 2018.

You can watch the 26-minute film that makes the link between expeditions Gombessa II and IV right here on WorldTempus as an avant-première before it is publicly available to coincide with World Ocean Day on 8th June 2017.
