Breitling New partner
WorldTempus is happy to welcome Breitling as a new partner.
With its origins tracing back to 1884, Breitling saw three generations of the Breitling family - for almost a century, until the acquisition in 1979 - help to keep the company's watches abreast of technological developments.
Breitling's history is inextricably linked with the chronograph. In 1932, Willy Breitling assumes the management of the family business and introduces an era of essential inventions and innovations, laying the groundwork for the brand’s strong association with aviation.
First developed for use in industrial, military and scientific applications, chronographs were later adapted to the wrist and found their way into aeroplane cockpits once Breitling had developed an eight-day power reserve movement. Launched in 1952, the Navitimer remains one of Breitling's most iconic models, with its patented rotating slide rule bezel. The brand has been associated with the world of aviation ever since and it is known for developing instruments for professionals.
Breitling is one of the world's very few watch brands to submit all its movements (both mechanical and quartz) to the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The brand built an ultra-modern facility named Breitling Chronométrie in La Chaux-de-Fonds, dedicated to the development and production of mechanical chronograph movements. Under the stewardship of Georges Kern, it will continue its tradition of innovation in the watch industry.
