A taste of summer

As many in the industry head off for a summer break, WorldTempus ploughs through a hot summer with interrupted watch news and reviews.

Temperatures have been so hot in Geneva of late that even the men at WorldTempus have been showing a bit of leg. Summer has finally arrived, therefore, so it’s fitting that we have a summer selection of articles this week. My interview with Michel Parmigiani , whose brand celebrates its 20th anniversary, was conducted on a sweltering day at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Chopard’s new Happy Sport 36mm model has a decidedly summery theme and the Louis Vuitton Voyager, like so many of the brand’s products, invites travel.

We also offer an “XXL summer” with the first articles from the 2016 issue of our sister magazine GMT XXL, starting with Carl F. Bucherer later this week. Our daily summer competitions also continue, with prizes such as Urban Jürgensen’s weighty 500-page coffee table book and a well-being kit from Bulgari up for grabs. Bookmark the following link for direct access to each day’s competition: http://en.worldtempus.com/summer-competitions-2016/today.

The light and airy feel of summer will be balanced out on Friday with some heavyweight fine watchmaking coverage on Patek Philippe’s Grandmaster Chime (the most complicated wristwatch that the brand produces) and the highly complex Vacheron Constantin Maître Cabinotier Retrograde Armillary Tourbillon.
