Reuge Thinking outside the box
Famous for its table-top and even pocket-sized music boxes, Reuge now unveils two giant music boxes that can be operated by passers-by in the US city of Cincinnati, Ohio.
The 150 year-old manufacture in Ste Croix has scaled up the design of its famous music boxes to produce two four-metre high sculptures for the city of Cincinnati in conjunction with US manufacturer Verdin.
Passers-by can operate the music boxes by turning a handle at its base, adding their own musical note to the day. One hundred years after Switzerland had such music boxes in its railway stations, Cincinnati now has them in its city-centre streets.
