Breguet and Race for Water continue their partnership announced in March in the presence of Marc A. Hayek, President of Montres Breguet, and Marco Simeoni, President of the Race for Water Foundation. A pioneering vessel embarked on a journey with a mission for the oceans and the goal of promoting innovative solutions capable of transforming plastic waste into energy resources, and accelerating clean energy transition.
On September 28, 2018, Marco Simeoni and his team visited the Breguet Manufacture in the Swiss Vallée de Joux. Gunter Pauli, author of The Blue Economy and active supporter of Race for Water, joined the team to participate in the conference held for Breguet employees and devoted to the mission of the Foundation and its activities.
During the visit, Marco Simeoni got acquainted with the process of making a mechanical watch, starting from metal cutting, to high-precision machining of components, as well as hand-decoration, assembly and testing. “I was impressed to find here at the Breguet Manufacture a combination of high precision equipment and two-century-old techniques”. He tested his skills at decorating a watch dial with a guilloche pattern, one of the signatures of Breguet.
