Hublot Ricardo Guadalupe

Profile of Hublot's CEO.

Ricardo Guadalupe took over as Hublot’s CEO on 1 January 2012, when his predecessor Jean-Claude Biver was made Chairman of the Board. He was born in 1965 in Neuchâtel to a Spanish family. After leaving school he studied at a Swiss business school before moving to the United States to follow a programme at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Once his studies were over he immediately joined the watchmaking industry, spending the first seven years of his professional career as Product Manager for Bulgari’s Swiss operation. Ricardo Guadalupe met Jean-Claude Biver in 1994, and decided to join Blancpain, where he was made International Director for Sales and Marketing in 1997. In 2001 he became an independent consultant, and among other projects worked on the development of Léonard watches.
His adventure with Hublot began in 2004. Alongside Jean-Claude Biver, Ricardo Guadalupe revived the brand, overseeing the development of the ‘Art of Fusion’ concept and the launch of the iconic Big Bang watch. Hublot joined the LVMH stable in 2008.

 

The brand

From the outset, Hublot has embodied design and innovation that differ markedly from the established watchmaking order. With the impetus provided by Jean-Claude Biver, by 2004 these values had already become the basis of a new DNA, leading the brand to develop particularly audacious timepieces – most of them with a highly-developed sporting aspect.
