WorldTempus sheds some light on the newly appointed CEO of Kerbedanz, Guillain Maspétiol.

Guillain Maspétiol began his watchmaking career in 1994 in Hong Kong with Cartier, a brand for which he took care of for the South Korean market. From 2001 to 2017, a new company and new regions: Guillain left for Jaeger-LeCoultre and worked in the Middle East, the United Kingdom, France and North Asia, notably as Managing Director. After a stint at Girard-Perregaux as Sales Director from 2017 to 2019, he was appointed CEO of Kerbedanz in 2020.

What first made you interested in the watchmaking business?
Having worked for a luxury brand with multiple products for seven years, I felt the need to specialise and, being passionate about motorsports, it was a natural transition.

What unique quality do you think you bring to your brand? 
I don’t know if “unique” is the right term, but I think I bring a combination of experiences, a culmination of 24 years of international experience in luxury and watchmaking in Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The result is a customer approach tailored to different cultures, as well as an approach to product development that is cohesive and result-oriented.

What type of leader would you like to be at Kerbedanz? 
A team player, visionary and a fighter.

What watch do you wear in your role as CEO and why? 
The Maximus in rose gold, because I like to wear a precision great that measures only 4.9cm!

What is the biggest misconception that people have about Kerbedanz that you would like to banish? 
The belief that the brand has little potential; they don’t know the extent of our creativity!

On the other hand, what is one thing about Kerbedanz that is not well known by the public, but important in your view? 
Its development plan over the next five to 10 years!

Give us a one-word (or one-phrase) hint about your future plans for the brand. 
Forerunner.

What is your long-term vision for Kerbedanz? What direction do you intend to take the brand in? 
I want to make it a global luxury brand.
