Maurice Lacroix welcomes Alexandra Trusova to the ML Crew, a group of talented individuals from around the world

Don’t be fooled, despite being only 16 years of age, Alexandra has achieved much in a comparatively short time. At just 13 years old, Alexandra was the first skater to perform two quadruple jumps, a salchow and a toe loop while competing in the World Junior Championships 2018. Indeed, her free skate programme was a remarkable performance that was noticed around the world.

More recently, the Russian figure skater has competed in senior competitions, representing her home nation and winning bronze medals at both the Grand Prix Final, Torino 2019-2020 and the European Championships 2020.

Alexandra was just four years of age when she took to the ice for the first time and her potential soon became apparent. Her chosen discipline requires technical precision, speed, flexibility , timing and absolute concentration. Alexandra has repeatedly climbed the rankings and she is currently placed 4th in the world.

Stéphane Waser, Managing Director of Maurice Lacroix, stated, “Alexandra has already achieved so much, however, with her ambition, talent and sheer dedication, I suspect there is much more to come,” says Stéphane Waser. “Her various qualities make Alexandra the per fect addition to the ML Crew and we look forward to witnessing her win many more medals and titles“. When asked what it means to be part of the ML Crew, Alexandra’s response is unequivocal, “To be among the best!”

And what about her favourite watch? “It’s the AIKON Automatic 35mm with white mother -of-pearl dial and diamond indices” explains Alexandra. “The design clearly resonates with my sense of style. The integrated bracelet and the six arms on the bezel, evoke thoughts of strength and yet, on the other hand, I find the watch to be elegant and feminine.” For her, the similarities between watchmaking and skating are obvious: “Timing and precision are fundamental requirements in both domains” adds Alexandra. “When I perform a programme, I have to move in perfect time with the music. Likewise, when I perform a salchow, I have to ensure that the jump and subsequent landing are precise with my feet and my body being in the right position at the right time. When I am competing, precision can be the difference between success or failure.”

When asked about her long-term goal, Alexandra’s response is somewhat surprising. “To win at the Olympic games is not my ultimate goal, rather I am seeking to amass a series of sporting victories,” she says. “Ultimately, I want my sporting achievements to open doors, allowing me to participate in global projects which have a positive influence on people’s lives. For example, I would love to be a UN Goodwill Ambassador.”
