As part of the 3rd generation, Valentin Piaget (right on the picture above) made a significant impact in the evolution of the Maison alongside his brother Gérald, the CEO. His contribution extends beyond the company and into the technical field of movement and style. The ultra-thin caliber is a milestone in the history of watchmaking: the 2mm thick hand-wound 9P movement, introduced in 1957, the world's flattest automatic winding movement in 1960 and not least the 2.3 mm thick 12P, we all owe to him.
Under the influence of Valentin Piaget, the creations of the Maison adopted a distinctive and audacious style where precious stones, ornamental stones and gold work all play an essential role. By launching collections of wristwatches and watch-sautoirs, the Maison provided the watchmaking industry with a totally new interpretation of the status quo that pushed the boundaries of tradition. His vision continues to inspire the creations of the Maison to this day.
