Raymond Weil recently announced its newest ambassador, critically-acclaimed actress Katheryn Winnick from the hit TV show “Vikings.”

“We first met Katheryn Winnick on the set of the fourth season of Vikings and immediately became inspired by her strength of character and innate beauty,” says Elie Bernheim, CEO of Raymond Weil. “She perfectly embodies our feminine collections and we are delighted to welcome her as our new Brand ambassador.”

A black belt martial artist, the Canadian born actress was surprised when her agent told her that Bernheim was a fan of her History Channel series.
“Raymond Weil asked if I would be interested in becoming the new Brand Ambassador,” she says. “I am very excited about this partnership. Raymond Weil shares a similar passion in celebrating the arts, strength and beauty in women.”
Winnick’s love of timepieces was ignited was she was a little girl. “When I was nine years old my father surprised me with a beautiful necklace – a locket – which was actually an open-faced watch when you unlocked it,” she remembers. “It was the moment I realized how intricate and complex watchmaking can be and how it can also be a lovely piece of significant jewelry. I feel that both the functionality and the aesthetics are important in a watch.

" I am an active woman and I need a watch which accessorizes and can be worn with many different outfits".

“Raymond Weil watches are simple and elegant timepieces, which reflect style and individual personality,” she continues. “You can wear them every day as well as take them into the evening. I am an active woman, constantly traveling and I need a watch which accessorizes and can be worn with many different outfits. Raymond Weil is that brand – beautiful watches for the active, modern woman.”

Timing for anyone is key, but it’s especially true for an actor. “I'm also a firm believer in hard work to achieve a goal,” she says. “‘Success is where preparation and opportunity meet’ is a quote that I keep in mind. In acting and in life you can meet the right person, in the right place and at the right time, but it is essential that you are prepared to embrace that moment.
“I love the art of storytelling,” she continues. “During my high school and university years, I trained actors in martial arts on various movie sets. I was mesmerized with the set designs, the costumes, and all the different aspects that go into telling a story and evolving a character. That inspired me to move to NYC and get the proper training and acting experience.”

Lagertha Vikings Katheryn Winnicks

Winnick loves playing the shield maiden Lagertha on “Vikings.” “I am inspired to portray such a strong, formidable character who still embraces her femininity as a woman,” she says. “This new season, I'm having fun on set exploring new ways to show different sides of my character. After four years playing the same role, it’s always a challenge to try to discover new aspects of the character that haven’t been exposed yet. I welcome the challenge.”
Just as she welcomes the challenge to be the new face of Raymond Weil.
