Richard Mille Alexander Zverev new ambassador
The 19-year old German tennis player joins the Richard Mille family.
Germany is once again at the center of Richard Mille current events: a few days after opening its first boutique in Munich, the brandnow welcomes a new German partner, the young tennis player Alexander Zverev, from Hamburg.
Nicknamed ‘Sascha’, the young prodigy is considered by his peers to embody the next generation of international tennis stars. Alexander began playing at the age of five, and in 2013 he was crowned ITF’s World Junior Tennis Champion.
In 2014, Alexander won his first ATP Challenger tournament, the Sparkassen Open in Braunshweig and two weeks later, he made headlines in beating three top 20 players and reaching the Semi Finals in the Hamburg ATP 500 event, an achievement that echoed those of a young Rafael Nadal, in 2004. Sascha’s game carried him into the top 100 players by the end of the 2015 season. The youngest player to be ranked, he received the ATP Star of Tomorrow Award.
This season, following Semi Final results in Montpellier and Quarter Final results in Rotterdam, the right-handed player announced himself on a major stage in Indian Wells where he held a match point against Rafael Nadal, who confirmed his belief that Sascha could be competing for major championships in the future.
Alexander Zverev now plays with a Richard Mille watch on his wrist, the RM 27-01, that was developed in collaboration with Rafael Nadal. Weighing 18.83 grams, inclusive of the strap, the timepiece can resist accelerations of up to 5,000g’s.
Richard Mille did not simply try to find his place in the watchmaking world – he carved one out for himself, constantly striving not to take anything for granted, and to make innovation and extreme technical prowess his driving forces.Find out more >
