TAG Heuer "Kai Lenny rides Switzerland"

A Hawaiian on a voyage to discover the stunning Swiss landscape.

At the invitation of Tag Heuer, the ultra-talented American athlete Kai Lenny — surfer, windsurfer, kitesurfer, and seven-times world stand-up paddle champion on the largest waves in the world — came to Switzerland to be initiated to climbing, snowboarding and paragliding, and to practice his favourite sports in some unusual places!  An occasion for Kai Lenny to offer to TAG Heuer his board on with he rode the impressive Jaws. Signed by Kai himself, the board will be on sale on www.tagheuer.com on Monday 07th of August 4pm Swiss Time for the #MondayMonday – pre-inscriptions for the sale on Wednesday 2nd of August 4pm.

What's on the agenda this weekend? Accompanied by his father and the TAG Heuer team, Kai took part in his favourite sports in unique settings and conditions, at an altitude of over 3000 metres:  hydrofoil Windsurfing on the Lac de Mauvoisin and hydrofoil kitesurfing at the Riffelsee lake, with the Matterhorn as his backdrop!

The next day, Kai joined fellow athlete Géraldine Fasnacht in a climb from the base of the Breithorn to a height of 4164 metres, before snowboarding back down. Kai revealed hidden talents, demonstrating incredible stamina on the climb, and executing an impeccable technique on the descent. Géraldine Fasnacht is a friend of the TAG Heuer brand, and a champion freerider with eleven international victories to her name. In the evening, Kai enjoyed traditional fondue and local wines.

After a visit to the TAG Heuer Manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, during which Kai Lenny met staff and was able to try his hand at watchmaking, his weekend continued with a trip to Lake Geneva. Kai Lenny met with members of the Montreux Stand Up Paddle club for an SUP race from Villeneuve to Château de Chillon, all while sporting TAG Heuer's exemplary sports watch on his wrist, an Aquaracer 300 metres with a rubber strap. This great event brought out the cool, disruptive side of Kai, demonstrating why TAG Heuer has chosen him as an ambassador, as he embodies the slogan #DontCrackUnderPressure: do things seriously… but without taking anything too seriously.

Kai stated: "My first visit to Switzerland has been a truly unique and unforgettable experience, and a great adventure. It was amazing to have the opportunity to practise my sports in such incredible conditions and settings, and I would like to thank the entire TAG Heuer team for organising this fantastic trip, and my father for accompanying me!" The change in altitude proved a real athletic challenge for Kai as he prepares for his forthcoming stand-up paddle competitions. Climbing to 4164 metres has given him a real competitive advantage compared to his usual training at sea level!

Kai means "ocean" in Hawaiian, and that is precisely where he comes from. He was born on the island of Maui in 1992 and grew up near to the giant Jaws and Hookipa waves. By the age of 4, he could already stand on his board, and could windsurf aged 6, do stand-up paddling at 7 and kitesurf by the age of 9. At the age of 22, and already a six-time world stand-up paddle champion, Kai Lenny surfs monstrous waves, demonstrating a brand of talent that is out of this world. He is the only person to have surfed in four different disciplines on the same day (tow-in surfing, SUP, windsurfing and kitesurfing).
