A biography of Søren Jenry Petersen, CEO of Urban Jürgensen.

Søren Jenry Petersen is 52 years of age and has two B.Sc. degrees, one in Production Engineering from Copenhagen Technical College, and the second one in Marketing from Copenhagen Business School. During his career he has participated in numerous tailored courses and special seminars conducted by IMD, London Business School of Economics, INSEAD among others. Søren Jenry Petersen has also lectured at various business schools - MIT, University of Southern California and CBS Copenhagen to name a few.

An elite gymnast during his youth, Søren Jenry Petersen began his professional career with industrial manufacturing of car/truck batteries and paint, but was tapped for a job at PHILIPS division for Mobile Phones in 1989, which lead to a long international career in high tech/telecoms. In 1996 two years after Nokia acquired the PHILIPS unit in 1994, Søren Jenry Petersen became a member of the Nokia Mobile Phones Group Management team – a position he retained in various functions for over 15 years until he left the company in March 2011.

During the initial telecom high growth years from 1996 to 2000 he managed the global product portfolio of Nokia enabling a rise in global market share from 17% to 40%, and was one of the co-founders of the luxury brand VERTU. From 2001 to 2011 he managed three different global business units with revenues ranging from 1.6B US$ to the 7.4B € business of developing, manufacturing and selling the most affordable mobile phones in the world, and during 2007 selling 1 in 4 terminals worldwide.

After leaving Nokia in 2011 Søren Jenry Petersen spent a few years in international consulting, working with a variety of R&D, Operations, Distribution, Product Portfolio and Branding specific projects in all parts of the world, as well as serving as Executive Chairman of a startup.

Søren Jenry Petersen has brought considerable international business experience to the helm of Urban Jürgensen, and has taken the Brand on a carefully crafted new strategy, where first order of the day has been growing the staff at the company, designing a selected expansion of the collection based on in house calibers, and importantly a strategy for establishing a presence among selected retailers worldwide. Cornerstone for the strategy is remaining independent and fiercely dedicated to handcraft, and executing timepieces of immaculate perfection in classic restrained designs honoring the timeless traditions of Haute Horologie.

Søren Jenry Petersen is married with three children, and resides in Bienne, Switzerland.
