In Thailand, 12th of August is celebrated as the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. As the Queen is regarded as mother to all Thai people, this day is also celebrated as ‘Mother’s Day’.

Breguet and retailer Pendulum have recently invited several female clients to celebrate Mother’s day in Bangkok. Guests were enthralled by the manufacture’s recent creations, as well as by wonderful stories between a mother and her daughter, like Empress Josephine and her daughter Hortense.

In 1800, Josephine Bonaparte, future Empress, purchased a tact watch, featuring a blue-enameled gold case adorned with a diamond-set pointer and with tact studs formed by large round diamonds. She leaves this exceptional piece to her daughter Hortense de Beauharnais, Queen of Holland, who enhances it even more by replacing the original diamonds with bigger ones, and by adding a crowned H in diamonds on the back of the piece.
