Seiko opens Miami boutique in watch-rich Design District.

Last week, Seiko officially opened its doors in the fashionable Miami Design District.  The area is already rich with nearly two dozen watch boutiques, but the addition of Seiko marks the first Japanese watch brand in the Design District. The Seiko boutique -- in a promising location next to a top-notch Italian jewelry brand and across from a fine restaurant – marks Seiko’s second USA store and its 71st store globally.

Additionally, the brand is chocking the highly windowed shop with some very exclusive limited edition pieces. In fact, this will be the first store outside of Asia to carry the Galante collection, which has a high fashion appeal. This line features colorful dials, unusual shapes and gemstone accents, but still houses the Manufacture’s finest movements.
Other special pieces being offered in the boutique include the limited edition extra-long strapped Grand Seiko Avant-garde art project watches (wherein image from two top Japanese photographers are reproduced on triple-wrap straps), and the new Grand Seiko Black Ceramic high-tech watches. Each of these lines was unveiled in Baselworld this year and makes their way to the new location.
“Our passion and dedication to being a true watch manufacture will continue to be evident through this Seiko boutique and as we continue to make constant revolutionary advances in our watchmaking,” said Akio Naito, Chairman of Seiko Corporation of America.

The new boutique will be a showcase for the brand to demonstrate to customers the exceptional quality and innovation behind Seiko watches. The newest Credor Tourbillon was on display, as was a rich selection of Astron and Prospex watches.
While the Grand Seiko (first unveiled to the world in 1960) is the premiere pillar for the brand and several new pieces – including a stunning dark wine-red dial version – grace the showcases of the Miami store, the highly technical solar powered Astron solar GPS watches add a real sporty feel to the boutique. A nice selection of the newest collection of the Astron GPS Solar watches are on display, including the World-Time watches, powered by the brand’s Caliber 8X22.
Susumu Kawanishi, President and CEO of Seiko Corporation of America, said the concept in the Miami boutique is to offer an exceptional representation of all of the brand’s collections.

Following a cocktail hour, speeches and a traditional breaking open of a wood sake cask, guests at the event were treated to hands-on time with the watches and a Japanese whiskey tasting, followed by a very exclusive dinner.
