Longines will time the 2017/2018 FIS World Cup stages and presents the official watch of the season, the Conquest V.H.P.

As Official Partner of the International Ski Federation (FIS), Longines has for many years made its expertise in sports timekeeping available to the FIS World Cup and the Alpine World Ski Championships. The brand’s involvement in the world of skiing rests on a long tradition of timekeeping for alpine races that was inaugurated in Saint-Imier in 1924.

As such, Longines will time the 2017/2018 FIS World Cup stages, as well as the performance of its Ambassadors of Elegance, USA’s Mikaela Shiffrin and Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal. The latter and 2016/2017 Overall Title winner was one of the guests of the FIS Alpine Forum, which took place on 27 October in Sölden, and during which she expressed her goals for the upcoming season.

On the occasion of the opening stage in Sölden, Longines is highlighting the Official Watch of the season, its new Conquest V.H.P. (Very High Precision) model. The watch features a silvered dial, as well as a steel bracelet. With a diameter of 41mm, this timepiece – as each Conquest V.H.P model do – includes an intelligent crown, as well as an E.O.L. indicator which can preventatively signal the end of battery life.

In addition, Longines renews its support to the champions of tomorrow through the Longines Future Ski Champions race, which will take place for the first time in Åre, Norway, in the context of the World Cup Finals. With the support of their respective national federations, the Swiss watch brand will invite male skiers under the age of 16 coming, from different countries, to compete against each other in a giant slalom. The ultimate goal will be to become the champion and to take home a Longines watch as well as a trophy. The winner’s national skiing federation will also be presented with a cheque aiming at developing projects for young people.
With the same purpose in mind, Longines will be organising once again this year the Longines Rising Ski Stars prize, awarded to the best female skier under the age of 21 and the best male skier under the age of 23 who compete for the FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup. At the end of the 2017/2018 season, the two winners will each receive a Longines watch, a trophy and a cheque.
