With just 11 shopping days to go until Christmas, we bring you a selection of gifts for the watch lover.

In Switzerland’s most conservative cantons at least (Geneva and Vaud, which cover most of the watch industry, being two of them), we only have 11 shopping days left before Christmas. Since we will be working for nine out of those 11 days, that doesn’t leave much time for Christmas shopping. If, like me, you are often stuck for gift ideas, then we have some suggestions for you this week. From the best books for the watch lover tomorrow (following our review of two comprehensive reference works last week) and a second instalment in our series on affordable watches on Wednesday (the first part was on watches costing under 2,000 Swiss francs to some unique prizes in our Advent competition (today you can win a stylish TAG Heuer jacket and holdall, together worth nearly 1,300 Swiss francs).

“ Win a ladies’ watch by Eterna in our monthly competition ”

The annual edition of GMT Lady magazine is out in time for Christmas and offers a number of horological gift ideas for the discerning lady. As usual we will be publishing selected articles from the magazine, starting with the cover story on Bulgari today.

Pre-SIHH events and announcements continue. Visiting A. Lange & Söhne last week I had the chance to talk to the brand’s CEO Wilhelm Schmid on the day that the new Lange Moonphase with day/night indication was presented. Since he was hardly about to give anything more away about the SIHH, it was a chance to review the year, hear about the new factory building and discuss training in the remote watchmaking outpost of Glashütte. Read the interview tomorrow on WorldTempus.
