Parmigiani Fleurier Kalparisma Nova Galaxy
The Kalparisma range, Parmigiani’s first mechanical collection for women, now has a stunning new model: the Kalparisma Nova Galaxy. The charming name reflects the timepiece’s aesthetic inspiration. The aventurine dial produces an illusion of infinite depth, through which a scattering of stars twinkle. In addition to the glittering impression caused by the metal inclusions inside the glass, there is a stylised star in rose gold at 6 o’clock. And, while at first glance this star might look purely decorative, it does serve a function. It is actually a small seconds indicator, performing one graceful revolution per minute. It’s a charming and extremely eye-catching creation.- Cloé Mugny
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic
The popularity of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection could be judged by Wednesday morning at the SIHH 2018. By 9.30am on the first day of the show the brand had put 60 of the limited edition of 1,000 Polaris Memovox tribute models for sale on its website. Two days later, half of them had already sold. Despite this demand for the re-edition, it was the simple three-hand model that immediately stood out for me. It reduces the watch to its simplest expression, makes it accessible to a wider audience, yet still offers the superior quality of an in-house movement. It is also emblematic of a wider trend towards simpler watches at this year’s SIHH.- Paul O'Neil
Ulysse Nardin Classico Jade 37mm
At Ulysse Nardin, the spirit of the sea is never very far away, even for a ladies’ watch that shows off a precious stone like jade, which gave its name to this collection that dates back to 2013. In the new Classico Jade models, it takes the form of a subtle gem-set wave between 6 and 8 o’clock, enveloping and transforming the black Arabic numerals into aquatic tones. This wave punctuates the white mother-of-pearl dial (another marine element) with the colour white, maroon or blue. Whether you prefer the simple versions or those with the gem-set bezel, these watches remain discreet and match with any outfit. They are easy to wear but at the same time sophisticated thanks to their self-winding UN-815 movement, all at a reasonable price (from 6,900 Swiss francs). - Michèle Brunner
