Only Watch 2019: "Beauty does (very) good"!
On Saturday November 9th, at the 2019 edition of Only Watch, conducted by Christie’s and held in Geneva, the Czapek Faubourg de Cracovie "Courage every second" chronograph was sold to a private collector for a hammer price of CHF 110,000 - about three times higher than the estimate of CHF 24,000-36,000!
Czapek feel honoured and proud of having fetched this high quotation and contributed to such a noble cause, whose motto is "Beauty does good".
Building up the Czapek Museum
On Monday November 11th, Czapek turned into bidders at a Sotheby’s auction where they managed to purchase Czapek & Cie reference 3430. This exquisite, simple yet fascinating pocket watch created in the 1850s by François Czapek during the early days of the company had a key role in the brand revival, inspiring Czapek collection, the Quai des Bergues range. The reference 3430 includes all the fundamental elements defining Czapek’s style: the extended numerals underlining the purity of the large white enamel dial, the surprising combination of Fleurs de Lys (hours) and trident (Minutes) hands, the two decentred sub dials indicating days of the week and the long duration (7 days) power reserve.
Little by little, Czapek are building their ‘Museum’, exhibited at their store in Geneva rue de la Corraterie 18. Those visiting Geneva are invited to discover these exceptional pieces of history as well as the collection inspired by them.
