Rotonde Day and Night watch with retrograde moon phases - Cartier
Cartier presents a new and even more artistic interpretation of its pet complication: moon phases.

As a sneak preview of the SIHH 2016 that will be held in Geneva from January 18th to 22nd 2016, Cartier presents its new Rotonde Day and Night watch with retrograde moon phases.

This elegant model attired in a rhodiumed 18-carat white gold 40 mm-diameter case features a subtle play on shades of grey and blue as well as a ‘heavenly’ graphic design. The lower part of the white gold dial is graced with seven tiny moons in their various phases, all entirely set with diamonds or sapphires and swept over by a rhodiumed steel retrograde hand.

Meanwhile, the upper section of the dial reveals a solar or lunar sky, depending on whether it is day or night, framed by two rows of diamonds. The hours are indicated by the position of the corresponding heavenly body, while the minutes are shown by a dagger-shaped hand.

Both the time and the lunar cycles of this Rotonde Day and Night watch with retrograde moon phases are powered by self-winding Calibre 9912 MC, the same movement already at work in the previous model bearing the same name and first presented at the SIHH 2014.
