A check-up for your watch with the new Lepsi Watch Scope - Lepsi

The pocket-sized Watch Scope is the latest innovative product from the young Geneva-based team at Lepsi.

Lepsi staked out its spot in the burgeoning watch accessory market late last year with its Watch Analyzer just in time for the Christmas rush. This new product, occupying the space between the high-end professional Witschi machines used by watchmakers and some of the free apps available on the Internet (which turn out not to be so free once you have installed them, if you want any meaningful level of performance). But its luxury finish, with bespoke stand, leather cushion and presentation box, came at a price (969 Swiss francs excluding tax) that made it the preserve of wealthier watch collectors.

The young and dynamic team of entrepreneurs at Lepsi quickly reacted and adapted. By the EPHJ this year they introduced the pocket-sized and aptly-named Watch Scope. Now, just as doctor checks your ticker with a stethoscope, you can check your watch’s vital signs in a matter of minutes with a device that is uncannily similar in shape, size and technology.

The good news is that the intuitive Watch Analyzer application remains the same, so all you need to do is connect the scope, with its high-performance microphone, to your iPhone, iPad or Android device (ideally made by Samsung: like many applications providers, Lepsi restricts its testing to the most popular Android devices due to the headache of ensuring compatibility with the ever-increasing amount of Android devices on the market). You can still check your watch in the different positions but you have to hold it in your hand in each of these positions. The device’s size, however, means that you can carry it with you practically anywhere. Testing the accuracy of a second-hand, or even a new watch, before you buy it is now child’s play.

But the best bit is the price: the new Watch Scope costs 369 Swiss francs excluding tax, compared with the 969 Swiss franc price tag for the Watch Analyzer, and now compares favourably therefore with entry-level watch winders like the SwissKubik StartBox, the other essential accessory for the watch geek.

The Watch Scope can be purchased online directly from Lepsi. But the generous folks at Lepsi have kindly offered a Watch Scope for a WorldTempus reader competition. For today only, you can enter our competition for a chance to win this new watch gizmo.
