Baselworld 2014: Louis Vuitton reveals its new Tambour Spin Time Regatta watch.

In 2010, Louis Vuitton offered an innovative and playful way of reading the time with the Tambour Spin Time collection. Its secret: the hours are revealed by rotating cubes.

Building on this iconic movement developed and manufactured in La Fabrique du Temps, Louis Vuitton enriched the collection with a model dedicated to regattas: the Tambour Spin Time Regatta. This innovative movement offers two functions: chronograph and regatta 5-minute countdown; visually indicated on the dial by 5 rotating cubes.

Following the new America’s Cup rules of a regatta start in 5-minutes, the Spin Time Regatta allows the skippers and crew to position themselves in the best possible way on the starting line during the 5-minute countdown. At the same time, the chronograph’s 30-minute counter will leap rightward and move to the 5-minute countdown displayed in red in the counter. This way the minutes before departure are taken into account in the final measured time.

After the white gold and pink gold versions revealed in 2012 and 2013, Louis Vuitton offers this year a titanium edition of the Spin Time Regatta.

For the first time, a Louis Vuitton watch features a titanium case with crown and push buttons overmolded with rubber. This material is lighter and more resilient than stainless steel.

The new half-opened dial enables to see the movement and its circular Côtes de Genève finishing as well as each cube supported by an axle ending with a Maltese cross. It features also an elegant and modern black alligator with rubber lining strap.
