This week we put the Frédérique Constant horological smartwatch to the test, try to get our head around the world’s most complicated watch and gear up for the wave of new launches at Watches & Wonders.

Our contributor Olivier Müller’s busy schedule over the past ten days has seen him fly to San Francisco and back (read his report on Breguet’s exhibition there later this week on WorldTempus) and join H. Moser & Cie’s CEO Edouard Meylan for some brief periods of weightlessness on the first Swiss parabolic flight. Today, however, he focuses on Frédérique Constant, taking the pulse of market with the brand’s CEO Peter Stas and offering his thoughts on the brand’s horological smartwatch after a hands-on test.

“Jean-Claude Biver is a genius of the industry who rightly merits a biography”

Paul O'Neil

We presented last Friday a rather exclusive sneak preview of one of the new Montblanc watches that will be launched at Watches & Wonders in Hong Kong this week. David Chokron will offer us his selection of the new launches to coincide with the opening of the exhibition on Wednesday. Our Singapore-based contributor Timmy Tan will also be attending the show to take a closer look at all the new launches.

Meanwhile, our in-house editorial team covers stories closer to our Swiss base: Editor-in-chief Paul O’Neil was one of the first to see the new Bovet 19Thirty collection up close. You can read his impressions of the new collection and its significance for the brand tomorrow. After digesting the rich feast of information about the new Vacheron Constantin “mega-watch”, the Reference 57260, we also try to summarise the world’s most complicated pocket watch as we await an article from Aurel Bacs, who is one of the few watch experts to have held the 960-gramme watch in his hands.

After attending the official Only Watch launch in Monaco last week, where all the watches were on display for the first time, Camille Gendre picked out some of her favourites over the weekend and Brice Lechevalier presents a closer look at the Blancpain Only Watch offering later this week. Our GPHG round tables also continue with the men’s and chronograph categories.
