Watchmaking superlatives, magnetism and much more - Newsletter
1 minute read
From New York to Florence via Cannes and Glashütte, we run the gamut of global watchmaking news this week.
Do not adjust your screen: this week’s newsletter is being sent out today, Tuesday 17th May, to take into account a bank holiday in the countries where our main reader groups are. Apologies to those who have been waiting in eager anticipation since yesterday. There was no bank holiday for your editor-in-chief, however, who landed in Geneva yesterday morning only to fly out again hours later to Florence. That can only mean one brand is involved, of course, so expect some big news later this week.
« Ce mois-ci, gagnez une montre Eterna pour dames »

We start the week with a look at watchmaking records and their limits. Could we still see thinner and lighter watches? Our coverage of Vacheron Constantin’s huge Overseas Tour continues with a closer look at the new Vacheron Constantin – Overseas World Time models.

Watch brand CEOs continue to have their say as Isabelle Guignet quizzes the bosses of Cvstos and Glashütte Original and I publish my discussion with Nicolas Sestito, the new watch supremo at Graff Luxury Watches, as well as my second instalment in the series looking back over 15 years of online content at WorldTempus. We also examine some watch brand logos and anti-magnetism in watches.

Last but not least, we continue to scan the red carpets to see who is wearing what at the Cannes film festival and pore through the results of last weekend’s watch auctions in Geneva.

Subscribe to our weekly newsletter to get all the watch news right in your mail box.
