For our planet - Ulysse Nardin
Ulysse Nardin's Diver NET concept watch.

The fervent search for truly sustainable practices is a very present need in today’s reality of the human impact on our environment. As consumers are becoming “greener”, so are industries. Ulysse Nardin, a watchmaking brand that has historically always been close to the oceans with its marine-inspired watches, is part of that search for sustainable practices, unveiling this year the Diver Net. It’s 44mm case – from back to middle as well as the bezel and its decoration – is made of 100% recycled fishing nets, a result of Ulysse Nardin working with FIL&FAB, a recycling sector in France that recovers nets no longer in use and transforms them into polyamide pellets. The latter remain highly resistant to friction and are therefore ideal for the case of a diving watch. The likewise recycled strap made from PET plastic recovered from the sea, which is then transformed into thread by a Swiss company named TIDE. The traditional sapphire crystal is replaced by a transparent ceramic glass, the production of which has a smaller ecological footprint than the more standard practices. A concept watch that has yet to be fully marketed and thus won’t immediately be with you on your next dive, the Diver Net is more representative of how watchmaking can be a part of a positive environmental impact without sacrificing quality.
