Savoir-Faire: enameling process

This video brings us to the workshops of Donzé Cadrans where the Grand feu enamel dials of Ulysse Nardin's watches are produced.

Centuries of pounding waves reduce the hardest rock to sand. Careful hands grind the sand to the finest powder, tinting it with color. Fire fuses the powder in the final step of the alchemical process known as enameling. It is from this phenomenal heat that Grand Feu, an ancient enameling technique practiced by the skilled artisans at Donzé Cadrans, takes its name.
