Summer watches As the Swiss watch industry prepares to shut down its factories for its annual summer break, we look at the watches you should be taking on holiday with you, whether you are lazing on the beach, travelling the world or enjoying a “staycation”.

Colour Ladies’ watches in technicolour

The arrival of the sun removes some of our inhibitions about what accessories to wear. And women’s watches don’t escape the rush of colour. A look at the unmissable details for the summer.

Blue, red, pink, green, yellow, violet or brown? Whatever the nuance or intensity, colours are the order of the day this summer. Blue is once again of the preferred colours among watchmakers. Turquoise, pale blue or navy blue tones will be hard to avoid, even once the pleasant days have made way for the first chills. All variations of pink and red, from the deepest purple to an acidic raspberry via bordeaux, also make up one of this season’s palettes of choice. But watch brands are also turning to a rainbow of colours, unashamedly proposing creations tinged with bright green, flashy purple and vitamin-rich orange.

The brands have a multitude of possibilities to colour the passing time, ranging from a simple coloured strap, in alligator leather, rubber, satin or sharkskin, to the extraordinary variety of precious, semi-precious, hard or sculpted stones. The use of mother-of-pearl, tinted crystals or even painstaking enamel work also offer almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to adding a touch of colour to a watch. Open your eyes, colours are everywhere, some can even be seen at night!
