Alpina launched its first Startimer Pilot collection back in 2011 and it has quickly become the most successful collection of the brand and one of the most recognizable professional pilot watches on the market.
Looking back at Alpina’s Startimer history
Since 1900 Alpina was a renowned manufacturer and official supplier of military aviation watches to continental air forces. Early aviation pioneers had strict requirements: their instruments had to be extremely precise and provide ultimate shock resistance. In addition, Alpina’s pilot watches were mostly equipped with an anti-magnetic case, highly contrasting dials with oversized luminous numerals and luminous hands for instant readability.
Two new models
The new Startimer Pilot Automatic maintains all the pilot features the collection is known for and combines excellent and qualitative finishing details with straight functions offering pilot watch aficionados the perfect balance between functionality and elegance on the wrist.
The watch comes in a rose gold-plated steel case measuring 44 mm in diameter with a choice of Navy blue or grey dial. The oversized applied luminous numbers for hour markers alternate with large rectangular luminous indexes purposefully providing the aviation instrument feel. The red triangle, which is Alpina’s signature, sits prominently at the top marking the sixty/zero minutes position.
The automatic Calibre AL-525 powers the hours, minutes, seconds as well as the date visible in a window at 3 o'clock. Oscillating at 28,800 vph, the movement offers a 38-hour power reserve.
A black or brown leather strap with off-white stitchings completes the watch.
