“Black Rock”, the Next Engineer Hydrocarbon - Ball Watch
The Engineer Hydrocarbon Black, affectionately known as the “Black Rock,” is the watch of world record-holding free climber Alex Honnold.

For a lot of watch lovers, Ball Watch is a venerable brand with a long history, known as the US railroad watch. For them, Ball Watch is a company with more than a hundred years of innovation backing it up, giving its current collection the weight of authenticity and legitimacy.
For others, Ball Watch is a cutting-edge “new” company, because they have only just heard about the brand, and they think the watches are cool, filled with great features and the company has several interesting partnerships (like Ball for BMW and the Grand Central Terminal in New York).
Both are absolutely right – Ball Watch is a company with a strong history that is perfectly positioned for today’s modern watch lovers.

The Ball Watch Black Rock
The Engineer Hydrocarbon Black, affectionately known as the “Black Rock,” is the watch of world record-holding free climber Alex Honnold.
“I like that the Black Rock is a natural progression from our signature watch, the Engineer Hydrocarbon,” Jeff Hess, president of Ball Watch North America, says. “It’s a tool watch with the Ball patented crown protector. This watch has morphed into a little slimmer piece, and we continue to add in our innovations.”

The 42mm case is titanium with Diamond-Like Carbon for scratch resistance and durability, and the titanium makes it amazingly light. Highly readable, the black dial is offset with green gas lights on the hour markers and yellow gas lights on the second hand. For the first time, Ball has used luminous paint on the black ceramic bezel, aiding in the watch’s visibility in low light conditions.

The Black Rock also uses Ball’s patented crown protector, the SpringLOCK anti-shock system, which reduces the impact of external shocks by 66%, and the movement within, an ETA 2892-A2, is COSC certified for precision. In addition, the Black Rock incorporates protection against magnetic fields and is water resistant to 300 metres. The watch comes on a rugged rubber strap to emphasise its durability and capability.
The Black Rock is a professional explorer’s trusty tool, as well as a great looking watch.
