The chronograph is without doubt the complication best known to the general public, not least because of its simplicity of use and its many applications in daily life. The current form of the mechanical chronograph shows few changes since its inception and generally features two push-buttons, one on each side of a central crown. The first push-button starts and stops the recording of accumulated time, while the second resets the mechanism to zero.
Ball Watch had already reinterpreted the classic chronograph once in the past, with the introduction of a single-button timepiece, the Trainmaster Doctor's Chronograph.
Now it’s the new Engineer Master II Slide Chronograph that breaks from the past, by rejecting the two push-button model and combining the start, stop and zero reset mechanisms in one integrated control at 9 o'clock on the case. The "Slide Chronograph" system includes a circular slide bar fitted around the movement. The chronograph is started and stopped with a clockwise rotation of this slide bar, which then returns automatically to its original position, while an anticlockwise movement prompts a reset. The "Slide Chronograph" system, developed and patented by Ball Watch, means that the chronograph can be guided easily with one finger while still wearing the watch.

A series of grooves encircling the dial endow the timepiece with additional structure and depth. These grooves are elegantly set with the H3 gas microtubes that feature on the dials and hand of all Ball watches, so that owners can enjoy the luminescent properties of H3 gas. Ball Watch has also incorporated a cylindrical micro-tube into the chronograph's slide bar. The H3 gas releases light continuously, requiring no external energy source. Consistent luminous intensity, lasting for a period of up to 25 years, is 100 times more powerful than that of the luminous paints conventionally used in watchmaking.
The chronograph's key function is of course complemented by the indication of hours, minutes and seconds, as well as a day and date display, powered by the Swiss-manufactured automatic caliber Ball RR1402. The robust design of the new Engineer Master II Slide Chronograph can absorb impacts of up to 5,000Gs, has built-in protection against magnetic fields to an intensity of 4,800A/m and is water-resistant to 100 meters. A screw-down crown and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal are the last two characteristics that complete the timepiece.
