The new Capeland Shelby Cobra collection takes its design cues from the Cobra model that was made legendary through Carroll Shelby's touch after he led Ford's GT motorsport programme in the 1960s. Two limited-edition models celebrate the start of Baume & Mercier's partnership with the Carroll Shelby company.
Capeland Shelby Cobra chronograph in steel
Taking the signature "Guardsman blue" colour of the Shelby racing team, the dial on this model includes subtle vertical bands that recall those found along the bonnet of the legendary Cobra. The attention to detail extends to the blue tone of the Superluminova, the cobra motif as the counterweight on the seconds hand and the design of the hands themselves inspired by the spokes of the steering wheel. The steel model is a limited edition of 1965.
Capeland Shelby Cobra Flyback Chronograph
In a more limited edition of 98 units, corresponding to Carroll Shelby's racing number, the gold model has the added complication of a flyback function for the chronograph. In all other respects it maintains the same design characteristics but in an 18-carat red gold case.
Both models come in a special case with a model cobra 427 as well as a personalised brochure and card. Those who purchase the flyback chronograph will also receive a book about the history of the Cobra.
